Eyecontact, Neil Pardington in Christchurch: some observations by Andrew Paul Wood
'Taking as his starting point the storage spaces and back-of-house areas of museums and galleries, Pardington turns our attention to places that are not normally subject to such a critical gaze. The Vault is a seris of large, sharp-focus images that, for many, will be a first glimpse into these hidden spaces, normally out of bounds to the general public. His photographs are both voyeuristic and documentary; they touch chords of cultural imperialism and ecological loss as well as providing a fascinating record of our collecting habits.' Jenny Harper, Director, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu
Essays by Ken Hall and Anna-Marie White with an interview by Lara Strongman
